Equal Efficacy, Different Active Ingredient
2004 Study on Dihydrocodeine is first in the U.S. in more than 40 years.
A comparison study of Panlor® SS and Lorcet® 10/650 was conducted including 58 patients with primary dysmenorrhea. Both single-dose and multi-dose assessments were made under randomized, double-blinded, active comparator-controlled conditions. The results were very straightforward :
- Both analgesics provided meaningful efficacy
- Both analgesics were well tolerated
- There was no significant difference in side effects
Dihydrocodeine has more than 40 years of clinical experience.
DHC avoids aspirin and NSAID-related complications such as bleeding, GI upset, and prolonged bleeding time. 3, 14, 15
Panlor's unique combination provides powerful relief - and not just from the opioid analgesia. Caffeine potentiates the acetaminophen by up to 40%. The ingredients in Panlor® may provide unique opioid dose-sparing effects to reduce adverse reactions. 9, 10, 11
The most frequent adverse reactions include lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, nausea and vomiting. Not recommended for patients 12 years of age or under. The CNS-depressant effects may be additive with that of the CNS-depressants.
In high doses or in sensitive patients, dihydrocodeine may produce dose-related respiratory depression.
